FC Berlin 8 vs 6 Süsserfuss Ballveiren: Report

Gabriel Almada9 Mar - 20:20

Berlin Punches Ticket to Nationals with Gritty 8–6 win. Desa and Rowe score hat tricks as FC Berlin rallies in season finale thriller.

FC Berlin delivered when it mattered most on Sunday afternoon, overcoming an early deficit to defeat Süsserfuss Ballveiren 8–6 at the Scarborough Soccer Centre and secure a place at the MASL-W National Championships in Detroit later this month.

With a Nationals berth on the line in the final game of the regular season, the match carried a playoff-like intensity from the opening whistle. Süsserfuss, who had played the night before in Ohio in a commanding 14–4 victory over the Youngstown Nighthawks before making the six-hour trip north, showed no signs of fatigue and pushed Berlin throughout the contest. Much like their previous meeting, the game quickly turned into an end-to-end battle filled with momentum swings and clutch moments.

Süsserfuss struck first and forced Berlin to play from behind during the opening period, applying pressure and capitalizing on their chances. Molly Murphy and Cam Emerling each found the net twice for the visitors, while Kate Mauch and Brooke Garey also added goals to keep Berlin on their heels.

Berlin, however, responded with composure and attacking firepower. Brianne “Bukkets” Desa led the charge with a hat trick, delivering several key finishes as the home side fought back into the match. Ally Rowe matched the feat with three goals of her own, providing a constant threat in the attacking half. Sam Murphy and Alessia Da Silva also added important goals for Berlin as the team gradually turned the tide, erasing the early deficit and building a narrow advantage during the later stages of the game. Despite trailing, Süsserfuss continued to press and kept the contest tight until the final minutes, but Berlin held firm defensively and managed the closing moments to seal the 8–6 victory.

The win caps off a strong regular season for FC Berlin and officially secures their spot at the MASL-W National Championships, set to take place in Detroit from March 20–22. With momentum on their side and their offense firing at the right time, Berlin will now look to carry that form into the league’s biggest stage.
