It’s do-or-die this weekend!

We are in the final two days of the regular season, but there is still a lot at stake. Two playoff spots have been claimed -albeit in controversial fashion- and there are another five squads vying for the remaining two. Here are the current standings:

#TeamGPWTLGDPts
1Detroit United FC7601817
2Inter Detroit85121316
3Cedars FC7412013
4AIM SC7331812
5FC Berlin73221111
6Shabab Alyemen SC6303-29
7Alianza FC7304-49
8Chantilly Forever FC8116-74
9United West FC7007-270

As mentioned above, Detroit United and Inter Detroit have already qualified for the post-season and will be seeded #1 and #2 for the semifinals, respectively. Here's a look at what is happening this weekend:

AIM SC vs Detroit United FC
Sat 29/Oct/2022 - 19:00 - Fordson High School
Watch live: here

Detroit United is already through and will keep 1st place regardless of the other scores. For AIM, a win will very likely mean their ticket to the final four (unless Shabab Alyemen wins their last two games and scores a lot of goals). If they tie, they could lose the playoff spot to either FC Berlin or Shabab. If they lose tonight, they will very likely be done.

Shabab Alyemen SC vs FC Berlin
Sat 29/Oct/2022 - 19:00 - Hurley Field
Watch live: here

Both teams come to this game with a sense of urgency. The only way for either one of them to make it to the next stage is to win tonight. A tie might still help Shabab but is very unlikely. Anything other than a win for FC Berlin means the end of the fall season for our guys.

United West FC vs Cedars FC
Sun 30/Oct/2022 - 15:00 - Hudsonville High School

Like AIM SC in today's game, Cedars FC is in control of their own fate. If they win, they are in and they secure 3rd place. United West is hoping to win and end its debut season on a high note.

Alianza FC vs Shabab Alyemen SC
Sun 30/Oct/2022 - 18:00 - The Corner Ballpark

Depending on how things go on Saturday, this game could mean the world for either team... or be irrelevant. As mentioned before, Shabab needs to at least get a tie vs FC Berlin in order to have a shot if they win on Sunday, but they will still depend on other results. Alianza FC has a very small chance; they need to win -and win big- and then hope for other games to go their way to make the playoffs.

Inter Detroit and Chantilly Forever FC have already played all of their games. For the Inter squad, this weekend will provide some rest before they have their playoff match next weekend; Chantilly, on the other part, will be back at home in St Catharines, Ontario, and celebrating a very positive first season in the UPSL.
