Our squad travels to Ohio this weekend!

The wait is over. This weekend, FC Berlin will make history as it debuts in the Major Arena Soccer League Women (MASL-W), becoming the first Canadian club to join this prestigious competition featuring top teams from the United States and Mexico. True to its trailblazing spirit, Berlin will compete in the Great Lakes North Conference alongside Detroit City FC, Indiana United FC, and the Youngstown Nighthawks.

The landmark journey begins on Saturday near Cortland, Ohio, where FC Berlin will visit the Youngstown Nighthawks for an 8:00 PM EST kickoff. The match will be broadcast live through the club’s partners at Cloud North Visuals. The road trip continues on Sunday in Cincinnati, Ohio, as Berlin faces the Cincinnati Sirens at 4:00 PM EST, with live streaming details to be shared once confirmed.

Speaking to MASL, FC Berlin President Gabe Almada highlighted the foundation behind this milestone: “Historically, our women’s program has been very strong. We have had great success with our youth programs, a lot of Division 1 scholarships in the United States and Canada. And we felt at this time we had a group of really committed players with the right talent level to pursue MASL-W.”

Club Technical Director and Head Coach Santiago Almada echoed that vision: “This is a great way to provide more opportunities for the ladies we have in our area. It’s an outlet that is very competitive and it gives us a year-round platform.”

The Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) is the top professional indoor soccer league in North America. Known for its fast-paced and high-scoring style, the league brings together elite clubs from across the continent and continues to play a key role in the growth and visibility of the indoor game. MASL-W serves as the women’s platform within this structure, offering a high-level competitive environment for female athletes.

Arena soccer is played indoors on a smaller field surrounded by boards, which remain in play and add a unique tactical element to the game. Matches are divided into four 15-minute periods, with unlimited substitutions and a pace that emphasizes quick transitions, creativity, and constant action—making it one of the most exciting formats of the sport.
