Our U21 ladies had a very strong performance at Lions Park on Monday night. They showed skill, speed and aggressiveness and took a commanding 3-0 lead over the hard-working HEADS squad at the end of the first 45 minutes, which could have been even bigger as the visiting keeper saved a penalty kick taken by Florencia Almada.

Kaylee Bruce scored two very early goals, and then it was time for our goalkeeper Makayla Townes to shine. Playing 'out' due to our overpopulation of goalkeepers, she scored taking a well-placed header out of a corner kick superbly executed by Sarah Makcrow. Townes had a very strong performance as a wing, which was very celebrated by her teammates.

Berlin began to play even better at the beginning of the second half, but the goals were not coming. HEADS managed to score a beautiful one from outside the box after a solitary counterattack. The HEADS striker went all the way to the end line, won the ball, came back a few yards, turned around and took a fantastic curved shot that went in the top corner. Nothing to do for Alison van Schaik on that beauty.

Our ladies restored the 3 goal advantage thanks to Florencia Almada, who redeemed herself with a strong shot after the keeper barely stopped a strike by Kamila Martínez, who had a very good game herself. Almada redeemed herself and could have even gotten a second goal but she got an offside call (erroneous, in this scribe's opinion).

There was only time for one more change for HEADS, which managed to score and set a final score of 4-2 via a long shot that bounced and squeezed in between the keeper and the post.

The next game for Berlin (1-0-1) is tonight, as they travel to Marden Park to face league leader Rockwood (2-0-0). HEADS' (0-0-2) next game is on Monday, June 6th, when they will host Berlin and try to get revenge.
