Another week, another frustration for FC Berlin. This time, it was not only our squad but also the home team that were short-staffed, to the point that the game started as a 10v10 bout. An eleventh Rockton player showed up a few minutes into the first half and that would make a difference because this player -Chris Abdool- ended up scoring the only goal of the game right after the halftime break.
Before and after that, it was mostly Berlin who was in command, although their efforts ended up being futile; either their shots were too wide or they were controlled by the goalkeeper. It was a remarkable effort by the Berlin players, though, with some outstanding performances. Jonas Vieira was remarkable, for example; it was easily his best game since joining FC Berlin! Freddy Gudmundsson worked so hard up front that he almost made his teammates forget that they were playing short. Unfortunately, and like in previous cases, this big effort was not enough and Berlin had to settle for another narrow defeat.
Our team is now getting ready for the last game of the regular season when they face division leaders Wentworth FC on Thursday, August 29th. After that, it will be playoff time, and hopefully, a chance for FC Berlin to bounce back.
