Things were definitely not looking good for our U14/15 squad. With only 9 players available due to vacation, injuries and suspensions, and coming back from a tough loss at home in their previous game, the boys travelled to Toronto to play against North York Academy, which is currently sitting in the first place. To make things even worse, the game was at 10:00 AM and it was a hot day!
None of that mattered. Our boys became gladiators that day. The score was only 0-1 at halftime, and when everybody was counting on them getting too tired to compete and some were probably preparing for a blowout during the second half, our team showed grit, talent and determination, but more importantly, a giant heart. North York got only one more goal, and that was 9 minutes before the game ended. In the words of coach Sergiu Anton, "(...) You made me proud to be your coach and definitely made your parents proud with that display of character. You grew as soccer players (...), but more importantly as young men"
Congratulations, guys. This was an impressive performance that made the entire club very proud!
