Berlin Academy XI Girls ties Greater Sudbury Impact
By Gabriel Almada
A good game for our ladies, that ended with a controversial call
Our Senior girls' team had a good showing against the hard working Sudbury side. Berlin FA took the lead early in the first half thanks to a long shot by Lauren Thomson and had many chances to increase the lead throughout the rest of the game.
However, as the match was nearing completion, our goalkeeper Makayla Farquharson was the subject of a controversial decision by the referee, as she judged that Farquharson had fouled an opponent within the 18 yards. It was a yellow card for our goaltender and a penalty kick for Greater Sudbury; they managed to convert it and hence set the final 1-1 score. A very disappointing finish of a game that saw Berlin FA as the dominant team, but unable to translate that into a more comfortable lead.
